As an ELI student, you will do many things outside of the classroom. At the ELI, we place a high priority in making sure you are happy and relaxed in your new surroundings. This is why we organize exciting activities and events and encourage you to take part in all of the opportunities we offer you to practice English and experience American culture through USF campus life.

Each semester we offer many organized activities to help you learn about the Tampa Bay area and surrounding communities. We also have groups like the short story club and conversation clubs that give you a chance to practice your English. You can also attend our free academic workshops and take advantage of free tutoring each week.

When you are a student at the ELI, we want you to have many chances for social interaction, and an opportunity to learn more about the place in which you are living. This is why the ELI has a comprehensive activities program.

Why you should attend ELI activities:

  • They give you opportunities to practice English outside of class.
  • They help you adapt faster to your new surroundings.
  • They are exciting and fun.
  • They help you make new friends.

Our program of activities:

  • Includes a minimum of one out-of-class trip every week to places like Disney World, Clearwater Beach, Salvador Dali Museum, and more
  • Offers weekly clubs such as the Short-Story Club
  • Offers activities like ELI Sports Day and our annual Thanksgiving Dinner
  • Helps you practice English with our Conversation Corners program
  • Includes free transportation for off-campus activities
  • May include the entrance fee for selected events

“The ELI is not just a school; it is an experience that helps you grow. All the ELI activities offered every week make this school very special and give students opportunities to really learn about the American way of life.”
